Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Kaur Tiku Weds Sheru Released June 23 on Amazon Prime. Produced by Kangana Ranaut, the film’s trailer was launched at a grand event in Mumbai on 14 June. Amazon Prime Video’s Nawazuddin, Avneet, Kangana and Aparna Purohit were present at the trailer launch, director Sai Kabir was conspicuous by his absence. It also raised eyebrows from the past, Kangana He has clashed with directors like Hansal Mehta (Simran; 2017) and Krish (Manikarnika; 2019). In Krish’s case, he even had to step down and share the directorial credit with Kangana.
Revealed: Sai Kabir, director of Kangana Ranaut’s production Tiku Weds Sheru, was missing from the trailer launch as he is currently in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse.
However, in case Tiku Weds Sheru, Kangana Ranaut has no conflict with Sai Kabir. A source said Bollywood Hungama, “Say is currently in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse. He was admitted to a facility in Mumbai just days before the trailer launch. He is expected to enter the field next month. That is why he was not present at the event and did not give any interview.”
The source added, “This is not the first time that Sai has checked into rehab. In the past, he was in rehab a few times. He also checked into rehabilitation after a case was filed against him for abetting his servant’s suicide.”
On 31 January 2018, Sai Kabir’s servant Raju died after falling from the former’s 7th floor apartment on Yari Road in Mumbai. Sai was in rehab at Masina Hospital just a few months before this incident. After Chakar’s death, he was again admitted to a South Mumbai hospital. After coming out a few weeks later, he was arrested and charged under Section 306 (abetment to suicide). He was released in April 2018.
The source added, “The case is ongoing. Besides, there are allegations of molestation against Sai Kabir. This case is also under trial.”
