Sam Richardson addresses whether his surprise villain, Gilbert, will return Hocus Pocus 3. Disney recently confirmed that a third movie in the franchise is in development following its success Hocus Pocus 2 In 2022. The Disney+ release marks the long-awaited sequel to the cult classic Halloween movie, cheatwhich first premiered in 1993. While Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy return as the iconic Sanderson sisters, as does Doug Jones’ Billie Butcherson, Hocus Pocus 2 introduced a new cast of modern characters, including Gilbert, who proved to be an unlikely villain.

Richardson hasn’t officially confirmed Gilbert’s return, which isn’t surprising given that the movie is still in very early development, though he did confirm that he’d like to return as the villain in his surprise sequel. How they will return is currently unclear, especially given that Hocus Pocus 2 Finally going to the afterlife with them. The sequel, however, ended with a tease of another Black Flame candle in Gilbert’s shop, setting up their return in a possible third movie.
In addition to the main trio, original stars Omri Katz, Vanessa Shaw and Jason Marsden have all expressed their hopes of returning. Hocus Pocus 3, though indicated that they have yet to be approached by Disney to do so. Doug Jones’ return is similarly obscure to the Sanderson sisters, with Billy Butcherson also visiting the afterlife to officially undo Winifred’s spell. Additionally, it is unknown if Whitney Peake, Lilia Buckingham and Bellesa Escobedo will reprise their roles. Hocus Pocus 2 roles, although the sequel seemingly set them up as better versions of the Sanderson sisters.

Richardson should return as Gilbert Hocus Pocus 3It will be interesting to see if he retains his somewhat villainous nature from the 2022 sequel or if he learns from his work. With many audiences enjoying the dynamic between her and Jones’ Billy, it will be interesting to see if both characters get more valuable screen time with their return in the next movie.
